Neighborhoods

Charlotte, area by area

Eight neighborhoods around the SouthPark corridor, each built in a different decade under different rules — and each with its own consequences for buying, building and renovating.

Charlotte’s inner-ring neighborhoods are not interchangeable. A 1911 streetcar suburb with protected canopy trees, a 1958 flat-lot grid beside a shopping mall and a 1990s master-planned district with an architectural review committee produce three completely different projects from the same brief. These guides set out what each area actually is, what its houses are made of, and what that means for cost, schedule and approvals.

How to use these pages

Start with the neighborhood, then the discipline. Each area page explains the housing stock, the site conditions and the approval path; from there, the linked service guides go into scope, schedule and budget for building, renovating, kitchens, additions, interior design, home technology and representation. The complete matrix lives on the local services index.

The firms behind this guide

The same four firms cover every neighborhood listed here. Their own websites carry current work, availability and contact details.
